Structuring the MasterMind Meetings

A MasterMind is a unique group of people utilizing MasterMind principles for business and personal goal achieving. The basic intent of the MasterMind concept can be simply stated as the coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose.

Each MasterMind group must follow these guidelines:

  1. Each group shall begin with two or three people who agree that the major purpose of the group is mutual growth of mind and spirit in an atmosphere of total trust and harmony. Group members should be from different industries to achieve maximum effectiveness.
  2. Avoid discussing controversial topics such as politics, religion or any other subject that is touchy. Never introduce any subject that will weaken the cordial and cooperative spirit of the group. In order to maintain trust and confidence between members of the group, all discussions must be treated as confidential.
  3. New members may be added to the group only with the unanimous consent of all members of the group. All new memberships must be on a trial basis to ensure harmony with the others. Ideally, the group should not exceed eight members.
  4. Chairing of the group shall be rotated from time-to-time, allowing each member the opportunity of being the chairperson. The function of the chairperson shall be to allow every member of the group the opportunity to speak without dominating the conversation.
  5. A MasterMind group reminds you and constantly proves how well it pays to use brains other than your own — while you offer to "lend" your mind to the others. Remember, you can always use more brains than your own.
  6. The MasterMind principle espouses, "No two minds ever come together without synergy, thereby creating a third invisible force which may be likened to a third mind." This third, invisible force is often called a "cosmic consciousness" or a "MasterMind."
  7. Happiness is found in lending, doing and helping other members in your group achieve their goals, not merely possessing the information about goal achieving. The win-win attitude is key to a successful MasterMind group. If I help you win, I win too.
  8. Attendance at every meeting is mandatory in order to keep the group viable and functioning as a MasterMind.
  9. A MasterMind group must work with a definite plan. It is necessary to plan and to organize in order to get rich. Staying poor is very easy — poverty needs no plan. Read and reread Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, and put the power of your mind to work for you!

MasterMind Meeting Methods are:

  • In Person: in one's home, office or designated meeting room at a public facility such as a library, university or church
  • Restaurant: Not recommended unless there's a quiet, private room!
  • Telephone: Conference call, Teleconference bridge
  • Computer: Chat room or e-mail
  • Fax or Letter
  • Video Conferencing: May be too expensive currently, but will change in the not too distant future

MasterMind Phases of Progression
Typically, there are three phases of progression for a Mastermind:

Phase 1 - Formulation
This is the period during which the group membership is identified. It is important that the group members view each other as respected peers and that the group contains some diversity of experience, knowledge and perspective. The greater the mutual respect and trust members have for each other, the greater the propensity for success.

Phase 2 - Practicum Phase (Begins once the group is filled)
The first three months of the process within a MasterMind is focused primarily, though not exclusively, on your personal development.

Phase 3 - Mastery Phase
In the Mastery Phase, you raise the bar significantly. Having undergone an extraordinary process of personal growth, it's time to master the application of the learned principles to accelerate your success and achievement. With the entire MasterMind group now elevated to a new level of clarity, insight and skill, the power of the MasterMind to catapult and support each person's success is compounded. Now, it's time to go to work in an even bigger, more intense way, on the success of your business and career.

MasterMind Meeting Time and Frequency
Most MasterMinds meet a minimum of once a month for at least three hours, with an agenda, even if only one with time segments, introductions and a topic. Long standing successful MasterMinds meet once a week. Some even meet on Sundays for “Salons,” including brunch. The choice is yours!
